TaWana…The name that is most synonymous with cutting edge hair designs and innovative creations. TaWana, Artistic Director of A.I.M. (A.rtists I.n M.otion) is originally from Washington, D.C. With over 25 years of experience in the field of cosmetology, she has worked as a platform artist and educator with top manufacturing companies such as Paul Mitchell Systems, John Amico and Goldwell and was a Black Hair Olympic Team member that worked alongside world renowned artists such as Floyd Kenyatta, Barry Fletcher and Harold Torain.

As a result of winning the “Black Hair Olympics” competition in Philadelphia, Pa., she moved to Kingston, Jamaica for 1 1/2 years where she worked as an Artistic Director for a premier salon and conducted hands-on workshops. She then returned to the U.S. where she directed and managed her own salons.

Furthermore, her insatiable hunger for knowledge led her to London, England where she learned different techniques that she could mesh with her own and Paris, France for a business venture.

Locally, she was the official hairstylist for the winners of the Florida State Mother/Daughter Pageant and a member of their entourage at the national level in Hollywood, CA.

With the application of make-up, extensions or several wigs, she can transform one subject into many. Along with being an imaginative hair/make-up artist for commercials, editorials, stage and music videos, she is Past 2nd Vice President of WOMPI (Women of the Motion Picture Industry) of South Florida.

To see TaWana perform in her environment will leave you in awe. She handles her shears with the dexterity of “Billy the Kid” and her make-up brushes with the artistry of “Monet”.
